Lonnie: Spiritual Native American Music with English Lyrics
November 2, 2017 Reviews seem to be focusing on the musical qualities in Karen Therese’s work, but the real value of this album is its spiritual character. Many themes in these songs deal with profound spiritual matters and reflect a journey through pain and struggle to hope and answers.

Darrel Drumm: Wonderfully peaceful
April 30, 2014 Her voice, so distinctive, sometimes breathy, but always full of expression, singing in the Native American genre with mixtures of modern rhythms and instruments, is quite peaceful.

March 30, 2015 – I have three of Karen’s cd’s. All are great. She does a wonderful balance of traditional and modern mix and she has a good voice. She is a talent know to some and hopefully more in the
future.

Kindle Customer
June 4, 2003 I picked up this album at the Smithsonian, as an impulse buy. I am very impressed. I know nothing about Ms. Therese’s recording history, but this album is rich in Native American traditional instruments and feel, blended into a modern mellow sound. The perfect album for quiet talk in front of a roaring fireplace, or a relaxing drive in the country. I put it in the CD player at the office when I want to shut the rest of the world out.

Karen’s music is the kind of music that goes straight to the heart, it is now the #1 CD I have in all my Native American Indian Collection, and I do have a lot.

Karen Therese Artist Bio

Classically trained on the piano, and an accomplished soul, jazz, pop and traditional Native American vocalist, Billboard Magazine has described Karen Therese as the ‘Native American Powerhouse Vocalist’. Her diverse cultural ancestry of Choctaw, Chickasaw, Cherokee, Scottish, French and African American shine through her compositions. Lyrically and musically her songwriting stretches across multiple styles and genres mirroring her love of life.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota Therese spent her summers as a child at her families land in Tennessee and Mississippi. She remembers hearing the rhythm of the blues and soul filled songs being played and sung on the porches of her Grandmother’s neighbors which now resonate in her own songs.

She has toured the United States, Europe, Australia and India and has appeared on national television in the US, Germany and Spain. Two of her albums, Heart of the Wolf and Warrior of the Heart, which were released in the US, Canada, Taiwan, Switzerland, Portugal and Germany earned her four NAMMY nominations. In December 2002, she performed her music with the Spokane Symphonic Orchestra. Her music has been used in the soundtrack for the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) documentary on Native American heroine Sacagawea. When asked, the highlight of Karen’s musical career was performing in New Delhi, India at the Sacred Music Festival by invitation of His Holiness, The Dalai Lama.

2018 marks the release of two new recordings that Karen Therese has been working on for several years. In both recordings her songwriting is more refined with acoustic stellar performances featuring guest artists from Washington State University Music Faculty. These two new recordings again stretch into new musical genres and landscapes.

The first new recording is titled “Lullabies for Liam and Bella and their little friends around the world”. Inspiring, soothing and tender this recording celebrates the beauty in life and is a timeless treasure written for Karen Therese’s grandchildren. It is a collection of original positive and life loving children songs that parents will also enjoy listening to.

Therese’s other new recording, “Reflections”, is a combination of tender and beautifully performed instrumental compositions with song’s Shelter of my love, Tenderheart, Love Song and Winds of Calculary that feature Therese’s bell like vocals. These memorable melodies easily translate into movie soundtracks with poetic and tender lyrics that speak to love and life with outstanding acoustic instrumentation.
